Let's work together to prevent the "SUMMER SLIDE!"
The "summer slide" refers to what happens when young minds rest for a few months. But, we believe that by encouraging the love of reading, we can work to prevent this. There is no better time than the summer to help our children bridge the gap in learning between the end of one school year and the beginning of a new one. Research shows that children who read over the summer make reading gains, while those who do not often slide backwards showing regression in their reading skills. We hope that by providing our students with engaging summer reading, we will not only prevent the "summer slide," but we will also help to develop the life long love of reading.
