Dr. James Horton

I am excited to start the new school year and looking forward to working with the Mustang students, parents and faculty.

A little bit of information about myself:

I have been a special education teacher for 22 years.   I started teaching special education with Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit (IU) #13 in Pennsylvania and have taught with IU #13 for seven years.  When I returned to the states, I returned to teaching special education in Manville High School and have been teaching in Manville High School for 15 years.   I have taught students with a variety of diabilities to include: specific learning disability, autism,  visually impaired, hearing impaired, intellectually disabled, and students with traumatic brain injuries.

I retired from the military in 2010 and spent 32 years in the Army and Army Reserves.   I was in the Army Corps of Engineers and Transportation.   I have been to Afghanistan, Germany, Korea, Belgium, Panama, Japan, Brazil, and Africa.   I graduated from the Command and General Staff College, Combined Arms Services School, Airborne School, and the Air Assault School.  I enjoyed the Army Airborne School the most.

I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and scuba diving.  One of the items on my bucket list is to hike the entire Appalachian Trail.   I have three children and one granddaughter.  My daughter was born in Germany, my oldest son was born in the United States, and my youngest son was born in Brazil.
