Ms. Amanda Rasmussen

Hello! My name is Amanda Rasmussen and I am looking forward to another great year at Manville High School!

I have a BA in Special Education from Kean University, and an M.Ed with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Georgian Court University. Over the last 15 years, I have worked with children and adolescents as a teacher, childcare manager, and crisis interventionist. 2021-2022 will be my fourth year as a Special Education Teacher at Manville High School.

This year, in class, our academic courses include English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Life Skills, and French Cultures.  In addition, a functional curriculum of social skills, life skills, vocational skills, and growth mindset will be incorporated into our daily activities. This year's electives include Photography, Current Events, and Physical Education!

In addition to my full-time students, I also teach a course called "Unified Peer Leadership". This course is designed encourage socialization and skill development in my students through consistent interactions with same aged peers.  Unified Peer Leadership is ideal for students who have expressed interest in future careers in education, therapeutic services, or other direct care professions.  I look forward to further development of the Unified Peer Leadership program at Manville High School!

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy art, music, cooking, and NJ Devils hockey! I love having the opportunity to share my personal passions with my students in the classroom and I encourage them to do the same!
