Ms. Amanda Rasmussen

Hello! I am very excited to be joining the Manville High School faculty for the 2018-2019 school year!

I graduated from Kean University in 2008 with a BA in Special Education.  After graduation, I worked as a long-term substitute teacher in Woodbridge Township for two years before temporarily relocating to North Carolina.  During my time in NC, I worked as a case manager for KidsPeace, a national non-profit organization that provides mental and behavioral health services to children and adolescents in crisis.  Shortly after the birth of my son in 2013, I returned to New Jersey so that he would be able to grow up close to our family.  I returned to the classroom during the 2017-2018 school year as the MD teacher at The Developmental Learning Center in New Providence and have decided to continue my teaching career by joining the faculty at Manville High School.

This year, in class, we will be covering various pieces of Literature, Earth Science, Geometry, and U.S. History.  In addition to academics, Social Skills, Life Skills, and Growth Mindset will be incorporated into our daily activities.

Outside of the classroom, my hobbies are generally centered around art, music, and cooking.  I enjoy having the opportunity to share my personal passions with my students in the classroom and I encourage them to do the same!
