Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Mauro

Welcome to second grade!

My name is Dani Mauro and this year I will be the second grade teacher in Room 12 with Ms. Gallagher! This is my very first year teaching in a classroom of my own and I could not be more excited to start my teaching journey at a school as special as Weston Elementary.

I was born and raised in a close knit town called Kenilworth, New Jersey. I attended high school at The Academy for Allied Health Sciences where I became a certified Emergency Medical Technician. After high school, I attended The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in Ewing, New Jersey. This May, I graduated from TCNJ with a dual Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. In my time at TCNJ, I had the opportunity to student teach in first, third and fourth grade. Through my Psychology major, I conducted thorough research about the relationship between social emotional learning and academic success in children and adolescents which has significantly influenced my approach to education. I strongly value the importance of social emotional learning in the classroom as well as prioritizing the mental health of my students.

Outside of teaching, I frequently ride as an EMT for my town's Rescue Squad with my sister who is also an EMT and my father who is the chief of the Fire Department! I also love being outside enjoying the weather whether it be with my family at my grandma's lake house or a day at the beach with friends. I look forward to what this year has to bring for Room 12. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or just to say hello!
