Degrees and Certifications:
Hello!~ My name is Angelise Esposito. A lot of my students call me Ms. E! :) I am the art teacher at ABIS for all grades, 5-8.
I have loved and participated in art for most of my life - but my passion began with cartoons and anime when I was about 5 years old. Back then (I'm not that old I swear but it was a pretty long time ago), there was a program called Toonami on Cartoon Network that played a lot of old school animes such as Naruto, Inuyasha, and Full Metal Alchemist. I fell in love with the stories and characters, and thus my art career began. I was nonstop drawing, enrolled in extracurricular art programs at school, and the rest is history.
When I got to high school, I knew I wanted to accelerate my career as an artist. I was enrolled in 2 AP courses (Art History and 2D Art) and attended a bunch of summer institutes in different states (School of the Art Institute of Chicago & School of Visual Arts in PA) until I applied to literally almost every single art school in the country! I ended up deciding to go to Parson's School of Design in NYC before transferring halfway through to Rutgers Mason Gross School of Arts in New Brunswick. I concentrated in Painting and am still primarily a painter :)
My educational career began after graduating from college. OF COURSE - my dream is to one day be a gallery artist. But I found my love for teaching through helping my little sister with her homework throughout the year, and decided to go into education to supplement my career as an artist and share my passion and dedication to the arts with the generations after me. That being said, I started as a support teacher in elementary, got my certification a year after graduating, and taught art for the next two years at a charter school. That experience landed me a job here at ABIS, and I am so beyond excited to be the best version of myself I can possibly be!
So...after all that babbling what I'd really like to say is: I hope we make some really awesome art together. Actually - I know we will! And most of all, I hope my class can be if not the best, the most relaxing and fun part of your day. <3
