With over 25 years in a career revolved around the early childhood education field, Lisa Antonelli is dedicated to helping children grow into lifelong learners. Her journey to the Board of Education began when she realized she wanted to be more connected to her own children’s school experience. From her very first board meeting, she was invested and eager to make a difference. Her goal is to ensure equity across the district, making sure “Every Child, Every Day” has the opportunity to thrive. 

Outside of her BOE work, Lisa enjoys reading and singing—often with her children and even the family dogs joining in! 

Her advice to students: “Keep striving for excellence, don’t settle for average. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way and continue to ask for more!”

Q: What inspired you to serve on the Board of Education?
Lisa: My career revolves around the early childhood education field, and I was lucky enough to bring both of my babies to work with me every day. As they got older and went on to public school, I missed having that connection to them and missed so much of their daily activities. My hours became even longer than they originally were, and I was putting my career first. I decided that I had been missing too much and searched for ways to become more involved. The BOE had a vacancy, and I interviewed. At that time, I had no idea what it was about, but I knew that it would be integral in taking that step to be more involved. From my first board meeting, I was invested, and I enjoy being a part of the district.

Q: What is one goal you hope to accomplish during your term, or one achievement you’re especially proud of so far?
Lisa: One of the goals I personally have is to make sure my voice is heard and to ensure equity in the district. Every child, every day means that each one is represented and is entitled to an education and the opportunity to thrive.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being involved in education?
Lisa: I've spent the last 25 years working with children and seeing them succeed, grow and develop into lifelong learners is my passion.

Q: Can you share a fun fact or hobby people might not know about you?
Lisa: I love to read and sing. Though I never had the confidence my children do, we can often be found singing in the car, at home, during chores, outside, and anywhere else! The dogs also join in :)
